So today I went to the city to buy szaloncukor , ground poppy seeds and alcohol filled chocolate covered cherries at the Hungarian store on 81st and 2nd, all of this was in high demand for Christmas and I live wayyy to close to the city to disappoint the fam!
But afterwards I was having a cup of coffee at starbucks and I decided to look up running stores near where I was.There was one called Super runner's store on 72nd and 3rd, so I finish off the coffee and walk on down to it.I had originally just wanted to get some GU-type gels to have handy since i figured that they would have a variety of flavors.However once I went in, it was like I entered runner heaven. I then had my run analyzed(Andrei liked that I run the tips of my toes, he says its the most efficient way!) and I ended up buying a really great pair of shoes that were picked out by someone who actually knows what he's doing- a pair of Brooks adrenilane GTS8, only $99 , which is much cheaper then I had expected them to be.Usually when you don't know what you want they try and get you to buy the most expensive pair, which may not be what is actually the best for you.He then started asking me if I was training anything and I told him that I was training for Disney. He smiled when I said that :). And when he was ringing me up he said, "If you train well, you can do it and do a good job."He then wished me the best of luck and I took his card from in front of the register so I can go back to him when I need a new pair of shoes, Andrei says that the shoes will last about 500 miles, so Ill need a new pair for the marathon.
This just made me feel like a runner.It felt so nice to talk to a person who knows about running,and just being a part of the running world.Its a great feeling and I am very excited to be a part of it.
Tomorrow is my 1 mile run- with these new shoes and words of encouragement it should be no big deal!
